Htc To Sack 1,500 Workers In Taiwan; Shocking Reason
There is bad news at HTC. Things are going from bad to worse for this tech giants and the situation does not look like it is getting any better. According to news from Reuters, HTC is set to lay off about 1500 workers in their manufacturing plant in Taiwan. This number amounts to 25% of their global workforce.
Before now, HTC had a global market share of 10% and they made great phones like the HTC ONE and Nexus One just to name a few. Even in 2017, the merk struck a $1.1 billion deal with Google for some members of the HTC team to work for search company. Despite this huge funds, they haven't been able to compete with the big guys like Samsung and Huawei.
The phone company has said that the layoffs are part of a plan which will be more effective and flexible as the company seeks to unite with VR business under the same management. The layoffs are expected to be completed before the start of October.
