5 years ago, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) introduced an initiative in the form of Mobile Network Portability (MNP) which allowed subscribers to migrate from one network to the other—just in case they needed better service—while still maintaining their previous phone numbers. However, this initiative has been met with just little success as statistics from the NCC show that only 62,709 subscribers have ported to other networks from January to May of this year.
