Oh! Social Media Tax Now Getting Closer To Nigeria

Gambar
The Zambian government looks to be following in the steps of the Ugandan's by imposing a daily tax charge on the use on internet call services such as Whatsapp call and Skype so that telecommunication companies will not lose revenue. They fear that a lot of people do not use the traditional calls anymore and as such the telecommunication industry is threatened. The order to charge N10(0.03$) daily tariff on call has been approved by the cabinet of Zambia. The country also fears that instead of creating jobs in the country, internet call is creating wealth for Americans while the people in the country suffer. “The cabinet has approved an executive order that would see the introduction of N10 ($0.03) daily tariff charged on internet calls.”-Zambian government. Remember we reported that MTN, Glo, Airtel and some other network providers in Nigeria are putting pressure on NCC to block over-the-top (OTT) services like WhatsApp, IMO, Skype, etc., because they're losing revenu

See The Date Samsung Is Expected To Launch Its Foldable Phone

Gambar
The news and reports of a foldable smartphone has been going round for quite a long time now. But Samsung has finally disclosed that it will be unveiling one early next year, and it has already been dubbed “winner” according to a tip-off by the Wall Street Journal. The same source goes further to provide us with the rumored specs for the phone: It is expected that this foldable device will sport a folding screen of 7 inches when opened fully, where the screen can also be completely folded in two. A "small display bar" will be placed at one side, and the camera on the other side when the phone is folded that into half. Unlike the ZTE Axon M which actually folds but uses hinges, the technology used in this Samsung model is expected to be different from that of the former which makes analyst believe that the phone will be priced at around $1,500. Samsung will likely first produce the phones in small quantities to see how it would be welcomed in the market. Many are stil

Some Google Pixel 2 Can't Snap Photos As Camera Says “Fatal Error”

Gambar
Google Pixel phones unarguably has some of the best cameras you can find in an Android device. The company's HDR+ software and hardware functionalities makes the Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL blow our minds away with their cameras. It is a shame though that some users have issues with their cameras. Since the launch of the Pixel 2 and Pixel XL in 2017, some users have not been able to open the camera app on their phones. When tried, the phone shows a “fatal camera error” and then closes the app. This is not the first time the Pixel 2 and 2 XL has been hit with bugs; late last year, there were issues with the speakers making rattling sounds even during phone call conversation, which left a lot of users frustrated till the extent one wrote that Google did rubbish . Meanwhile, as temporary fix, Google suggested that users clear the camera app’s cache, restart the phone and try opening the camera again. If that doesn’t work, users should put their phones in airplane mod

Why Is Zoto Messing Up? See Other Alternative Apps

Gambar
What on earth is happening to Zoto? Recently, twitter and other social media platforms have been flooded with questions and complaint about the airtime, data, and utility bills payment app. Transactions have failed, and even become unavailable, no more mails to disturb us from “Zubby,” no response to mails and even on social media. The company’s Twitter handle has not made any post in this month of July, with the last post in June. There are also no responses to the complaints of angry customers. The complaints even go as far as the Google play store as the overall rating of the app has done down. Worst is that so users have money in their wallet and it is just caged there because all transactions on the Zoto app are failing. Alternative to Zoto There are many fishes in the ocean. You can go for TopUp Africa as the app can be used to buy airtime, data, cable TV subscriptions, water, electricity and other utilities, and they also offer big cashback and rewards . Another optio

Sony Xperia Xa2 Plus Launched With 4Gb And 6Gb Ram Variants

Gambar
There seems to be something about Sony and quiet releases for their Xperia XA2 phones. In January, the company released the Xperia XA2 and XA2 Ultra under the wraps and now, they are at it again. Sony just released the Xperia XA2 Plus , yet silently again. The Xperia XA2 Plus seems like the modified version of the XA2 Ultra. The changes noticed in the new device include the presence of a new 18:9 aspect ratio display, which makes the XA2 Plus not as long or wide as its predecessor. Another change is in the design as the XA2 Plus sports an aluminum build compared to the plastic build of XA2 Ultra. The back camera for the two phones is the same; a powerful 23MP camera. The front facing camera for the XA2 Plus, however, seems to have suffered a downgrade as its single 8MP camera cannot stand against the dual camera on the XA2 Ultra. Meanwhile, the two phones are identical on the inside: Sony Xperia XA2 Plus is powered with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 630, coupled with 4GB or 6GB of RAM

Over 9000 Subscribers Port Out Of Glo; What About Mtn? Shocking!

Gambar
5 years ago, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) introduced an initiative in the form of Mobile Network Portability (MNP) which allowed subscribers to migrate from one network to the other—just in case they needed better service—while still maintaining their previous phone numbers. However, this initiative has been met with just little success as statistics from the NCC show that only 62,709 subscribers have ported to other networks from January to May of this year. The stats further show that 33,772 subscribers left their network and 33,437 moved to other new networks on this same 5 months period. MTN gained more subscribers and at the same time, they also lost more with 12,965 subscribers coming in and 6,614 going out; Globacom got 3,283 and lost 9,453 users; 9Mobile got 8,984 and lost 9,526; Airtel got 8,205 subscribers and lost 8,259. Many Nigerian prefer to totally dump their old SIMs instead of porting to a new network; and that is why this initiative hasn'
